We’re looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our brilliant Business Intelligence Team and help us keep the lights on whilst we focus on modernising our ERP system and delivering reporting through a series of strategic projects. The BI team is temporarily expanding to allow us space to work on a strategic ERP deployment project (dynamics 365), so we are interested in hearing from both people who would like to help us implement BI from a new instance of dynamics 365, and also those who would be interested in helping to keep our current BI available and improving whilst our focus is on the upgrade of ERP. This role is all about supporting our customers and ensuring that the right data is available to them as easily as possible. The desire for insight is unstoppable at the RNLI, so the role will include designing and delivering well-structured dimensional data models in Databricks and writing the SQL code necessary to provide a robust semantic/gold layer which will be used to deliver our Power BI reporting to meet our customer’s reporting requirements as well as leading our team to maintain the award winning BI products that our people rely on. You will work closely with our Data Engineering team and systems experts to ensure we consume data from our source systems in the right way, and then work with customers and other Business Intelligence Developers to design, maintain, develop and deploy the reports for the organisation. Your Role As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you’ll help the RNLI transform the way we consume insight by: Leading the build and maintenance of a suite of products that provide insight and data across the RNLI, helping to improve our lifesaving work Working with customers to understand the decisions they have to make, and then work with data analysts, researchers and other professionals to design tools that will improve those decisions Working with other experts in the RNLI’s data teams to ensure we consolidate data and best deliver a robust reporting layer that will meet the organisations reporting and analytical needs now, and in the future Making sure we have high quality, structured data flowing from source systems to our reporting presentation layer so we can deliver accurate and timely insight to those that need it Ensuring that data quality and security is considered throughout any systems change in the RNLI, from system design right through to the insight we deliver About You We are looking for someone with advanced data modelling and SQL developer experience who can gather and interpret complex reporting requirements and multiple business processes to deliver a robust suite of reporting products delivered through Power BI. You will be able to work in an agile manner to deliver benefit to our customers as soon as possible according to project priorities. You will enjoy working with other data professionals and others on the project delivery teams to ensure that dependencies across teams are understood and communicated so that data can flow from consumption to presentation layers in a robust and efficient manner. You will have extensive experience and working knowledge of SSMS or Azure Databricks, dimensional data modelling, Kimball methodology techniques and building data structures for consumption and presentation via Power BI. You will be used to working to project timescales and using project delivery tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps. You’ll be: Someone who understands how data should be consumed and structured throughout each level of ingestion and transformation to a presentation layer to deliver business intelligence reporting Someone with a vast experience of creating robust data warehouse models to meet complex reporting and analytical needs Someone who is confident working with data from an ERP, with experience of working from D365 being beneficial for our project work Someone who enjoys writing efficient and robust SQL code to deliver the agreed dimensional data model which will be used to deliver the reporting for the organisation Someone with experience of data lineage testing to ensure data quality throughout the ETL process and can check their work as they develop Someone who wants to share their experience with their team and help us to grow and do great things together.
