About the Role

Maidstone Borough Council is looking for motivated individuals committed to delivering high standards to join the Street Cleansing Team, predominately working in the Town Centre.
The role of Street Scene Operative involves manually sweeping and cleaning streets and footpaths, picking up litter and emptying litter bins, and maintaining cleanliness standards in line with Defra requirements. For the role of Street Scene Operative (Driver) you will also be using street cleansing vehicles and equipment as directed by the Street Scene Supervisor. You will need to be able to work on your own, in all weathers, and be used to a physically active role.
This is a full-time position on a permanent contract, working on shift rota covering a five-day over seven-day working pattern, with a 12% shift enhancement.
About You
You will enjoy working outdoors and be able to work on your own initiative, as well as working within a small operation team.
You will need to either hold an NVQ Level 2 in street cleansing or be prepared to study towards the qualification.
Additionally, you will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high service standards.
A full UK driving licence (up to 7.5 tonnes) is required for the Street Scene Operative Driver role.
Selection Process
