System Development Engineer, Managed Edge Compute

The Amazon Managed Edge Compute (MEC) team is working on building a highly scalable unified management solution to manage, and report on Amazon's global fleet of compute devices across Amazon's fulfillment centers. Hundreds of thousands of Amazon Associates rely upon these devices to deliver shipments to Amazon retail customers. We provide our critical services in thousands of facilities ranging from Amazon's smallest last-mile emerging market delivery stations to 1M+ square foot robotic facilities.
We are looking for a talented System Development Engineer to invent new solutions to improve our speed, scale, and efficiency. You will be joining a team that is developing a unified management solution that will be deployed across the entire fleet of compute units, testing frameworks, and improving reporting to enable complex data-driven decisions with globally impacting scope. Our AWS-based services enable Amazon's software, systems, and operations teams to use the latest technologies in our facilities. We build for performance, availability, security, and cost.
Key job responsibilities
1. Develop applications, services and automation for Linux systems
2. Implement new features and enhance existing products
3. Troubleshoot issues and help resolve customer problems
4. Stay up to date on relevant technologies and best practices
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2. 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
3. 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
4. Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
5. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
2. Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
