We are recruiting for a Temporary Facilities Assistant to join a centrally-based College at Oxford University. The position is set to commence as soon as possible and will be full-time or part-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks. Key Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing enquiries from building users and customers, both in person and via email. Conduct basic repairs and maintenance within the College and its student accommodation buildings. Manage facility-related issues via the designated ticketing system, ensuring timely logging, assignment, and resolution of faults. Monitor and control building systems such as HVAC, lighting, security, and energy, using the Building Management System (BMS). Install and construct equipment and furniture as needed. Prepare and set up rooms for meetings and events, including furniture arrangement and audio-visual setup. Assist in office furniture relocation, minimizing disruption to staff and users. Perform daily walkthroughs to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the building and grounds. Manage stock levels and order consumables through the University Finance system (Oracle). Coordinate with contractors and University staff on-site, ensuring high service standards. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and proactively improve service delivery. What We’re Looking For Experience in building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs. Organisational skills to keep work on track and efficient. Ability to use maintenance management systems and ticketing platforms. Proactive and able to work independently in a busy environment. A team player who collaborates to achieve College goals. Good communication skills (both verbal and written) along with basic numeracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email. A strong customer-focused approach and understanding of service standards. Familiarity with health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
