Job title: Senior Mechanical Engineer Location: Weapon Systems UK Business Unit – Sheffield & Barrow-In-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: £50,817 (depending on skills and experience) What you’ll be doing: A Senior Mechanical Engineer reporting in to the Technical Lead within the Weapon Systems UK, Engineering Function. This role is within the M777 Major Structures (Production) Programme, working closely with the Operations, Quality and Technical Data Pack (TDP) teams The main duties of a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Weapon Systems UK are as follows: Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer Lead and/or support solutions to production and manufacturing technical queries raised by suppliers, internal stakeholders (i.e. Operations Team) and non-conformance reports within required project time frames Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability Your skills and experiences: Essential: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or a high level of experience within an engineering environment, whilst having experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications Design experience in a multi-disciplined, production and/or manufacturing environment, answering technical queries and non-conformance reports. Experience performing structural/stress analysis and is familiar with product data management (PDM) tools to configuration manage data Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards and standard instructions (i.e. Business Management System (BMS) and Life Cycle Model (LCM).
