Park Life Heavitree is a registered charity, based in Exeter, dedicated to supporting our local community - with the broad vision to help create a safe, welcoming and supportive place where people can come together and be part of a thriving community.
Our charitable objects focus on reducing social isolation, improving mental and physical wellbeing and getting people out and active. Our theory of change seeks to build stronger, more active communities, in and around Heavitree Pleasure Ground.
The Park Life Heavitree community building, located within Heavitree Pleasure Grounds, houses Park Hub (a dedicated community space available for hire for a range of charity and community activities, music, health and lifestyle groups as well as private parties) and Park Cafe (a community cafe). We aim to provide our users of both the Cafe and Hub a warm and welcoming space where friends can be met, groups can be attended, stories can be shared and individuals can feel at home.
The Social & Mental Health Project Coordinator will have the responsibility for overseeing all Park Life projects and events - whilst ensuring that they focus on, support and have an overall positive impact on the social and mental health of our community.
Experience of maintaining, coordinating and delivering community focused projects is essential - as is an understanding of one or more of the following: social work, youth & community work, mental health support and/or safeguarding.
You must be passionate about developing community, supporting individuals from all backgrounds and encouraging community (and key stakeholder) participation and engagement with Park Life projects - therefore you should be a strong communicator, confident and approachable.
Great team work is essential, so you must be a great team player and be prepared to help the Park Life charity to achieve its goals and objectives. You will also have had experience of coordinating volunteers and should be able to demonstrate that you can inspire and motivate others. Ideally we are looking for someone with a bubbly, positive, can-do attitude towards your work, along with the ability to work under pressure whilst remaining calm are essential.
The successful candidate may be occasionally required to give time to Park Life Heavitree events that take place during evenings, weekends, bank holidays and school holidays - and so flexibility is key in this role.
This is a brand new role for Park Life and as such there is the potential to develop and grow this role. It is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, fun, hard working Project Coordinator to join our small charity team and be part of something amazing!
