The University of Northampton Enterprises Ltd is looking to appoint a cleaning operative to work within the team to achieve and maintain exemplary standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all spaces within buildings, providing scheduled and ad hoc cleaning support to shared staff facilities and general circulation areas across the estate, with responsibility for replenishing consumables to ensure continuity of services – a proactive part to meet the needs of all building users.
Principal Duties include:
* To service all areas designated by the Facilities Supervisor, completing scheduled and ad hoc tasks to maintain a level of cleanliness throughout the daytime shift. This will also include removing waste and replenishing consumable items.
* General management and removal of litter, waste, and spillages in general circulation areas.
* To work with other team members to ensure that work is covered during absence of colleagues.
* Working to 1st Degree Facilities Standard operating procedures.
We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £24,309 per annum (for 37 hours a week - this will be pro-rated for this post). In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 2 salary before living wage.
About you
You must have the following:
* Experience in cleaning tasks.
* Be able to work accurately and safely.
* Experience in completion of work in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislative compliance.
* Experience of working in occupied buildings understanding the need not to cause disruption.
* Have sound knowledge of cleaning products and materials currently in use.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Be able to work with minimal supervision and on own initiative, either in a team or alone.
* Be able to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands.
* To be adaptable, conscientious and to be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
Desirable:
* BICS Operators Proficiency Certificate Stage 1 or willing to work towards qualification.
