Core Purpose of the Role: An integral position within the Communications Team, responsible for overseeing the internal communications function to BAL’s 900 colleagues and the wider audience of stakeholders. The role will also assist in the delivery of external PR activities, including those supporting airline partners. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Communications Manager, oversee the delivery of all internal communications to BAL colleagues and on-site third parties. Assist in the delivery of external PR activities for BAL and its on-site partners, including airlines and concessionaires. Act as the company’s internal communications expert, delivering a cohesive internal communications programme in support of the BAL communications and marketing strategy, which aligns with BAL’s business strategy. Produce a colleague newsletter and other internal communications products, including personal messages from the CEO. Work with IT and other departmental representatives to develop the intranet and other communication tools to engage and inform employees. Collaborate with the People Director to support the people engagement strategy through creative and engaging internal communications. Take ownership of the Airport Community App, ensuring content is uploaded on both BAL and third-party channels. Stay abreast of industry best practices, challenging the status quo and adapting internal communications methods as technology and trends evolve. Support external PR activities for BAL and its on-site partners, including airlines and concessionaires. Take part in the Press Office out-of-hours on-call rota and act as the Company media representative. Arrange and escort photographers, TV, film, and radio crews around the Airport site when necessary. Provide support in all areas of the communications and marketing function, including website updates, customer complaints, and posting content on social media. Undertake other duties commensurate with the grading of the post, in line with the needs of the business. Candidate Requirements: Essential: Experience working in an internal communications or public relations role. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Creative and engaging content creation skills. Proficient in the use of communication tools, including intranet management. Experience in handling external PR activities and media relations. Strong organizational and project management skills. Desirable: Experience working in the aviation or airport sector. Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in internal communications. Experience with social media management and customer engagement.
