Job Description
We're recruiting for a Clinical Development Manager to manage the clinical governance and relationships team and provide pro-active and comprehensive clinical expertise and leadership. The role-holder will support and develop the Clinical Governance, Clinical Provider and Vocational Rehabilitation strategies for Group Protection and IPB.
The position is homebased with expected travel to L&G offices and clinical provider sites across the UK. You will work Monday-Friday with weekends and bank holidays off to enjoy and relax! You will earn a base salary of up to £65,000, dependant on experience.
What you'll be doing:
1. Driving the development of the Legal and General clinical proposition to maximise the outcomes of our claims management processes and promote understanding of our claims and clinical philosophy internally and externally.
2. Overseeing the relationship of clinical partners, being a key point of engagement and escalation to ensure all parties understand and deliver their role within the L&G claims management proposition.
3. Creating a culture that ensures that the Clinical team remain appropriately qualified and support is provided to ensure career progression and development to drive the continuous improvement of Legal and General's position within the market.
4. Collaborating with L&G Group stakeholders in the development of clinical opportunities to deliver our corporate protection proposition and raise the profile and awareness of L&G's offering.
5. Authorising expenditure on rehabilitation or work re-integration programmes up to the approved level of delegation from the Head of Clinical Operations to achieve the best customer outcome balanced with spend.
6. Horizon scanning of the clinical market place and socio-economic elements to identify trends and recommending philosophy refinements to maintain and improve L&G vocational rehabilitation proposition.
7. Ensuring effective Quality Assurance activities are implemented and supported by appropriate and regular MI to review the outcomes being delivered and any foreseeable harms are identified.
8. Managing, motivating and developing employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
1. The jobholder must be either an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Registered General Nurse preferably with an Occupational Health qualification or vocational rehabilitation experience and must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
2. In depth knowledge of all Protection products, past and present including Group and IPB.
3. Excellent market awareness of Group and Personal Protection products.
4. Good understanding of medical conditions and the effect these can have on an individual's ability to work.
5. Awareness of the investigative and rehabilitation services provided by external organisations.
6. Audit and management processes of 3rd party providers.
7. The jobholder requires extensive legislative and regulatory knowledge.
8. The job holder requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, analytical and risk management skills; ability to be creative and strategic thinking.
9. Strong claims assessment and vocational rehabilitation understanding.
