Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Consultant in General Medicine and Gastroenterology based at St John’s Hospital, Livingston in NHS Lothian.
The successful applicant will join a team of enthusiastic and motivated consultant physicians in a unit recognised for its innovation and passion for improvement. The unit has a strong emphasis on medical education and training as well as close links with the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, input from all the medical specialties, an established Frailty service, as well as an award-winning Hospital at Home team.
General Medicine duties will include on-call and unselected acute medical take 1:16 weekdays and 5 weekends per year. Gastroenterology responsibilities will comprise the management of GI in-patients, endoscopy, and outpatient clinics.
As well as clinical duties, these posts will also contribute to undergraduate medical education with up to 2 PA’s dedicated to teaching, for example in simulation training or exemplar clinics.
