Support Worker Outreach
Location: Croydon
Reporting to: Service Manager
Salary: £13.20 per hour
Contract: Temp ongoing
Hours:
Monday to Sunday - early or late shifts 5 days per week
Some weekends are required.
About the role:
To provide high quality support to an allocated group of service users within the community. To carry out duties in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Manage a caseload of around 4 - 5.
Key responsibilities:
1. To deliver housing related support to adults with a range of needs, to understand their strengths and build on these to help clients meet their aspirations in a range of areas of interest and value to the individual.
2. Improve each client's quality of life; prevent homelessness through promoting or maintaining independent living skills and appropriate move on.
3. Provide relevant support in accordance with the client's range of needs via support and safety planning and aspirations assessments and through one-to-one keywork sessions.
4. Assist service users to attend educational, leisure and health-related activities, accompanying as appropriate.
5. To maintain accurate service users' records and all other records relating to the upkeep and maintenance of the service. This includes electronic-based records on our organisational system.
6. To carry out Housing Management functions including the collection and management of rent, reporting of repairs, and managing the beginning and end of tenancies/licences at the schemes.
7. Encourage and promote effective multi-agency working to ensure that the risks of services users are mitigated and that the needs and aspirations of service users are met to a high standard, including establishing close contacts with various communities, statutory and voluntary organisations.
8. Have knowledge of and follow relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
9. To take part in regular supervisions and annual appraisals and seek out and take up opportunities for continuous professional development within the service, organisation and externally.

Experience & Qualifications
1. Experience of working with single homeless people and helping them move on to more independent accommodation.
2. Experience of providing advice, information, and support.
Knowledge
1. Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing single homeless people.
2. Knowledge of the move on resources available to the client group.
3. Understanding of issues of alcohol and drug misuse and homelessness.
4. Knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunities.
Skills
1. Effective communication and computer skills.
2. Ability to write clear reports and letters.
3. Effective assessment skills.
4. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
