AMU is a 64 bedded unit with a GP Receiving Unit and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) attached which see over 100 patients a day combined. We admit patients from home and the Emergency Department.
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Band 5 Nurses who have a passion for Acute Medicine. You will work closely with HCA's, OT's, Physiotherapists, Medics, and many different specialties including Cardiology, Diabetes, Dermatology, Liaison Psychiatry to name a few. You will also be led by a dynamic team of Sisters and Charge Nurses with extensive knowledge of Acute Medicine as well as our Clinical Educators who are all passionate about delivering the best care to our patients.

Main Duties of the Job
Key Responsibilities
1. The post holder will work according to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines and be accountable for their own professional actions.
2. The post holder must use up-to-date knowledge and evidence to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence changes and promote health and best practice.
3. The post holder must achieve and maintain competence in identified mandatory and statutory training, develop and maintain clinical competencies, skills and knowledge which relate to the area of clinical practice.
4. The post holder must respond to patients, relatives, and carers' concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required.
5. The post holder will take charge of the practice setting as required or a defined area of the practice setting.
6. The post holder will assume responsibility for undertaking tasks delegated by the nominated line/shift manager. This may include representing the practice setting at meetings, link nurse responsibilities, audit, governance initiatives, and supervision and role competence assessments for unregistered nurses and students/trainees.
7. The post holder will contribute to the development of service and quality improvement initiatives within a collaborative framework to enhance patient experience and outcomes and ensure standards of care are monitored and maintained at the highest level.

Qualifications Essential
* Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level leading to Professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register (Adult / Child / Learning Disability or Mental Health).
* Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses or post-graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post-registration experience.
Experience Essential
* Previous/recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months).
* Willingness to become a practice supervisor/assessor or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment.
* Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post-graduate practice.
* Being an accountable professional.
* Promoting health and preventing ill health.
* Assessing needs and planning care.
* Providing and evaluating care.
