At Represent, we are on a mission to build the best brand in the world. As we continue to grow, we are looking to bring in our first tax role into the finance team to support our expanding operations. We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to undertake the day-to-day management of the UK and International Tax obligations of Represent. This role will suit an experienced tax professional who is excited to work at a fast growth, ecommerce brand at an exciting time for the business.
This is an important role within the business, and the candidate must have working knowledge of UK corporation tax and other UK taxes as well as experience of tax regimes outside the UK, eg. US, EU. You will be responsible for managing all tax-related matters, providing tax strategy, and ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws as the company expands its operations globally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
o Manage and prepare timely tax filings, including:
o Preparation and submission of monthly UK VAT returns
o Preparation and submission of international VAT/sales tax returns and liaising with our compliance partners where relevant
o Oversee and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in all regions where the company operates
o Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax related filings
o Review and manage tax provision calculations/balance sheet reconciliations
o Work on transfer pricing related topics
o Oversee and manage tax projects, working with internal colleagues and stakeholders, and external advisers where appropriate
o Work with finance team to improve/ensure appropriate tax related control/review procedures in place
o Own tax elements of business systems, eg ownership of tax code maintenance
2. Tax Planning & Strategy
o Identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiency improvements
o Assist the wider business with decision making on commercial aspects to ensure most tax efficient outcome
o Keep up-to-date with tax law changes and advise the business on potential impacts.
3. Tax Risk Management
o Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities to mitigate exposure to tax audits and penalties.
o Manage tax audits and work with external auditors and tax authorities as required
o Implement best practices for tax reporting and documentation to reduce the risk of dispute
4. Cross-Department Collaboration
o Collaborate closely with relevant teams, including but not limited to, finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
o Provide tax advice and guidance to various departments on matters such as pricing, vendor contracts, and customer transactions.
o Work with existing team to improve/ensure appropriate tax related control/review procedures in place
o Work with the CFO on ad-hoc projects
o Work with HR & Payroll functions and external advisors on employment related taxation
o Provide ad-hoc training and advice to Finance Team on relevant taxation matters
o Assist with ad hoc analysis/be involved in ad hoc projects as required.
What we’re looking for
* A passionate tax professional with a proven track record of success, and a desire to thrive within a fast pace environment
* CTA qualified
* Experience in global eCommerce taxation preferred
* You must have working knowledge of UK corporation tax and other UK taxes (VAT, withholding taxes and stamp taxes) as well as experience of tax regimes outside the UK, eg. EU, US
* Proven experience of working with tax authorities
* Ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide clear, practical recommendations.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
* Highly organised, structured and analytical. Delivers results in line with deadlines.
* Strong work ethic and flexibility to work as and when required in peak periods, to ensure deadlines are met
* Highly IT literate: Microsoft Excel, use of financial reporting tools
* High levels of attention to detail but can also look at the ‘bigger picture’ and sense check from a high level
