The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.
As a Design Configuration Engineer, you will support the NI Configuration Engineers and Manager in managing activities and achieving team objectives. This includes assisting in the preparation of commissioning activities, contributing to UKDC training, and preparing data for configuration meetings.

What you’ll be doing
You'll also produce and analyse performance indicators (KPIs), conduct audits to ensure compliance, and resolve configuration-related issues or non-conformance matters. Additionally, you will coordinate technical topics, participating in their arbitration and prioritisation, and lead technical discussions when necessary.
You will effectively communicate with stakeholders, you will facilitate regular updates, address concerns, and organise workshops or meetings on configuration management. You will also be involved in planning and organising meetings for the Technical Direction Committees, conducting pre-reviews, quality checks, and documenting meeting outcomes. Your responsibilities will include authoring process documentation, contributing to deliverables such as status reports, and maintaining meeting minutes.
This role plays a crucial part in managing the Edvance Design Change Process and enhancing HPC engineering performance. As part of the Configuration Management Team within Edvance / EPRe HPC Technical Direction, you will work closely with the Design Coordination Team, the Technical Director, and the deputy to drive key engineering and project objectives.
Who you are
You'll need an engineering degree or equivalent qualification, along with a solid understanding of EPR design and engineering processes. Your familiarity with UK laws, regulations, and nuclear industry best practices will be key, as will your ability to grasp complex technical subjects and provide accurate, clear analysis. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential to successfully manage multiple technical tasks and priorities.
In this role, excellent communication and people engagement skills are crucial. You'll be expected to build strong, collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering teamwork and effective collaboration. Your leadership abilities will also be important, as you'll manage and guide teams, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and engagement.
