We are looking for an experienced medical receptionist at a GP surgery. Opening hours are 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM, so ideally, you should work split shifts from Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM / 1:30 PM - 6:30 PM. This has some flexibility, and full days with a day off can also be considered.
You will be asked to receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Ability to type referral letters is an advantage.
As part of the Hailsham Primary Care Network, there will be opportunities to assist patients with their individual health and welfare needs.
Experience of working in general practice and use of the EMIS computer system would be an advantage. Flexibility and willingness are essential.

Reception:
* Receiving patients and consulting with members of the practice team.
* Requesting medication for patients.
* Dealing with emails.
* Covering all reception duties as necessary.
Appointments:
* Process appointment requests for on-the-day/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with visits/requests.
Computer:
* Registrations of new patients – computer data entry and medical records.
* Process patients’ changes of address – computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
* Register patients for online services.
* Medication searches and action reviews.
Telephone:
* Have working knowledge of multi-line telephones.
* Have the confidence to answer telephone calls and deal with the query with accuracy.
Other Tasks:
* Ensure building security – have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Any other tasks allocated by managers.

* Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually).
* Reporting potential risks identified.
