Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Pittwater House caters for students across Pre Kindy to Year 12 and has a leading reputation for producing well rounded students through academic rigour and a strong pastoral focus. Providing single gender classes on a co-educational campus, Pittwater House uses evidence-based research to deliver best practice teaching and learning and wellbeing outcomes for students.
The Head of Junior School plays a significant role within Pittwater House. The position requires:

Working with a dedicated Principal and whole of school Executive Leadership Team, this role provides an exceptional opportunity for further educational leadership and personal growth.
The Head of Junior School will oversee the implementation of outstanding teaching and learning practices throughout the Junior School. They will have a focus on effective pedagogical strategies, teacher coaching and inspiring colleagues to create innovative and exciting work programs and lessons, and inducting staff in educational compliance as appropriate, including new curriculum developments.
To be successful, you will be able to:
* Work with the Executive team (Principal, Deputy Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning, Business Manager, Director of Studies, Head of Girls College and Head of Grammar School) to refine and develop the School’s strategic plan for ‘Junior Education’.
* Work with the Executive team to implement the School’s strategic plan for teaching and learning.
* Work with the Executive team as well as Faculty Coordinators and Pastoral Leaders of the Secondary School to identify ways in which the Junior School and Secondary School can work together to benefit the entire student body.
* Work closely with the Executive team to develop and implement the Master Plan.
* Work on a strategy to develop the leadership capabilities of the Junior School Leadership team and Classroom Teachers.
* Develop a culture within the Junior School which communicates to everyone that they are important and cared about.
* Oversee the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being and development of each member of the Junior School.
* Build and maintain a team of Junior School Leaders and Classroom Teachers with clear goals and procedures for the pastoral and academic care, management and discipline of students, strive to assist each student to realise their potential in academic, social, co-curricular and personal domains. In addition, developing a positive culture across the Junior School.
* Work closely with Heads of School to explore opportunities of transition from Junior School to the Secondary School.
* Oversee communication to parents of the Junior School students.
* Attract new enrolments to the School by promoting the School in the community.
* Sustain enrolment numbers by ensuring the retention of existing students in the Junior School and ensuring the transition of students into the Secondary School from the Junior School.
* Monitor and manage the pastoral budget as it relates to the Junior School.
* Ensure the smooth running of the Junior School including oversight of events and activities.
* In conjunction with other relevant staff, manage the well-being of the Junior School staff.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Appropriate qualifications in education with a preference for or working toward a post graduate qualification in leadership or pedagogy.
* Experience in a middle management role or Junior School leadership position.
* Be eligible to teach in NSW and meet all NESA requirements and Standards.
* Maintain a valid NSW Working with Children’s Check.
Commencing in Term 3, 2025, the Head of Junior School is a five-year tenured leadership position, renewable by mutual agreement. The is a Level 4 Executive Leadership position.
