An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic leader who can evidence personal and organisational development to manage the efficient running of our main outpatient department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a full-time post to ensure that the department is coordinated to the highest standard so the patients who attend the department experience seamless personalised care which is delivered in a safe and timely manner. The post holder will evidence sound skills, knowledge and assessment in supporting the consultants' plan of care, delivering this in a supportive working culture alongside an experienced team of nurses.
The department supports the following consultant and clinical nurse specialist clinics for the following specialities:
1. Nephrology
2. Cardiology
3. Respiratory
4. Neurology
5. Endocrinology
6. TIA (One Stop Clinics)
7. Genetics
8. Aneurysm screening
9. Colorectal
10. General Surgery
11. Gastroenterology (including fibroscanning clinics)
In addition, the role involves supporting safe staffing for Breast Care One-Stop clinics in our Breast Care Unit which is adjacent to the main outpatient area. You will work closely with the Lead CNS Breast Nurse to ensure that the unit is optimised to ensure the safe delivery of outpatient services is maintained.
As a nurse, you will take overall responsibility for all patients in your department, ensuring they are properly assessed and have effective management plans in place. Your role is to deliver compassionate, high-quality care while knowing each patient personally. This involves actively listening to their feedback and being visible to patients and their families to address any concerns promptly.
You must document care accurately and supervise the documentation of others, adhering to NMC standards to ensure patient records are precise. As an NMC registrant, you will continue your professional development while mentoring and teaching junior staff, including nursing assistants and newly qualified nurses. You'll be responsible for value-based recruitment to maintain an appropriate skill mix, conducting annual skill mix reviews to ensure team effectiveness.
You will also conduct constructive annual appraisals for all staff, providing feedback, setting SMART objectives, and addressing training needs to enhance their competencies in delivering compassionate care. As the charge nurse, understanding HR processes will be essential for managing team performance.
Financially, as the budget holder, you will manage departmental finances, oversee efficient roster management, and authorize payments for nursing staff. You will ensure proper care of equipment and resources, promoting their efficient use throughout your work.
