Join a Leading International Law Firm as a Partner in Tax Investigations
Our client, a highly-rated mid-sized international law firm, is known for its profitable full-service practice and holds tier 1 and 2 rankings in several core practice areas. They consistently deliver cutting-edge, industry-led work for clients across various sectors, establishing a market-leading reputation in private equity, asset management, corporate M&A, and global dispute resolution and investigations.
The firm serves a diverse client base, including public and private companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, and businesses engaged in large and complex UK and cross-border matters, transactions, and disputes. They pride themselves on providing not only top-level expertise but also business-oriented collaboration through commercially driven advice.
In response to a recent firm-wide strategic review, the firm is looking to appoint a partner or team to lead a new tax investigations practice. There is an increasing demand from clients as tax authorities become more aggressive in pursuing taxpayers and challenging their tax affairs. This can lead to significant reputational issues and direct financial costs, making it essential for taxpayers to be aware of the potential impacts of tax inquiries or investigations.

We are seeking candidates at the partner level from a City law firm with experience in the following areas:
* Advising and representing shareholders and company directors in disputes with HMRC on matters such as VAT, Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), and Gross Payment Status (GPS).
* Advising Asset Managers on potential issues and disputes regarding their tax affairs.
* Assisting European-based companies facing multiple seizures of goods related to Excise Duty disputes.
* Handling payroll disputes with HMRC.
* Advising on proceedings under the Insolvency Act 1986 and the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986, including CIS and GPS disputes with HMRC.
