A unique opportunity for motivated enthusiastic future leader, has opened up at our Potters Bar Clinic School. We are a part of Elysium Healthcare who own and run a large number of specialist provisions in the Health Care Sector. At present they own and run six CAMHS units specialising in psychiatric care for young people. All our schools are registered as Independent Special Schools. As such are registered with the DfE and regulated by Ofsted. Our last inspection was rated "GOOD" with OUTSTANDING for personal development. Potters Bar is a 18 bed unit classed as a Low Secure Unit for those aged twelve to eighteen. Class sizes are small 1 to 4 pupils enjoying a full curriculum. We use a QNIC recording system for pupil data which helps with work loads.
This is a full time post for an energetic person wishing to develop their skills as a senior leader. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, with hopefully some managerial experience. We would hope a lively and pleasant personality with empathy for those who find themselves sectioned under the mental health act. The young people in the hospitals care have differing length of stays as it depends on treatment and their response to it. Some stay and move on in a few weeks and some require longer stays.
Education for these young people is a very important part of their treatment. When well enough the patients attend school and are able to resume their studies. Often going on to take their GCSE's and A-Levels. As the patients health improves, the school helps with the transition from our school to their home school or college.
We are looking for someone to support the excellent work the Headteacher is doing in providing education to the young people. This is a full time position, benefiting from free lunches and well fare initiatives. You will be supported by a small specialist team and a wider hub of five other Deputy Heads across the CAMHS teams. There is training provided. All pupils and staff have access to lap tops and a well resourced school.
The roll is to support the Headteacher in managing the staff and school with responsivity for pupil reintegration to home schools or college. An ability to liaise with the medical team and attend multi disciplinary team meetings will also be a requirement. SENCO experience will be an advantage as this will form part of the roll. Other responsibilities will be discussed at interview. We like to use candidates unique talents where possible.
Work life balance is important to us, staff are given ample PPI time during the day so the expectation is no one takes work home with them and so no evening work. There are no parent evenings. Elysium are passionate about looking after the welfare of their employees.
If you feel you would like to be part of a small specialised team and feel you can make a difference to those in our care we would love to hear from you.
