About the Department
The Certification team operates across several countries, including the UK, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Finland, Turkey, and China, and is responsible for the technical evaluation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure compliance with both EU and UK regulations.
The team’s technical assessments ensure that products are suitable for their intended use and meet the relevant international standards. If products pass the assessment, manufacturers may apply the CE/UKCA mark.
This department is highly regulated and follows a rigorous ISO 17065 quality management system (QMS), accredited by UKAS and INAB.
About the Role
In this role, you will report to the Head of Product Certification and collaborate with colleagues across the department and corporate Quality team. You will take responsibility for managing and enhancing the QMS within the Certification department.
Your key responsibilities include:
Maintaining and improving the ISO 17065 Quality System within the Certification department
Working with the Quality Team to plan and manage internal audits of the QMS
Conducting internal audits for Certification activities, ensuring adherence to QMS and procedures
Performing gap analyses of new product initiatives to enhance product knowledge and technical capabilities
Coordinating external committee participation and managing related documentation, such as agendas and minutes
Updating external systems to notify stakeholders of important Certification decisions
Organising and tracking departmental training activities and staff competency records
Developing, reviewing, and revising internal and external documentation to ensure clear communication
Implementing and reporting on quality metrics and key performance indicators
Coordinating, analysing, and reporting on customer surveys and timely delivery

Experience: Experience in a laboratory or certification body setting, or qualifications in a science-based subject or Mathematics at A-Level grade C or equivalent
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with UK and EU PPE regulations, including the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425, would be advantageous but not essential
Technical Expertise: Experience with ISO 17065 or working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is a plus, but not essential
Organisation: Strong organisational skills
Analytical Skills: Ability to assess product conformity, identify non-compliance, and recommend corrective actions
Language: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in assessments and documentation
Problem Solving: Demonstrated creativity and persistence in solving problems
