Applicants should have a Masters level education, preferably a Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, leadership ability, and a strong knowledge of histology laboratory processes, including specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, send-out, special staining, and overseeing digital pathology aspects. The successful candidate will undertake diagnostic laboratory work and support operational management to achieve service and workforce objectives.
The role involves leading a team, resolving real-time laboratory issues, and providing face-to-face training and guidance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
What you'll do:
* Lead Senior Biomedical Scientist managing pathology specimen processing for Histology, Neuropathology, and Immunochemistry, ensuring accurate and timely data.
* Manage Biomedical Scientists, trainees, and support staff within the main laboratory and other areas as needed.
* Oversee specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, send-out, special staining, and digital pathology.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize service effectiveness.
* Support Cellular Pathology Training, Quality, and Health & Safety leads.
What we're looking for:
* HCPC-approved Biomedical Science degree (BSc) or equivalent.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of current CPD activities.
* MSc or equivalent knowledge in relevant discipline.
* Specialist portfolio or relevant experience.
* Good manual dexterity and concentration.
* Experience in a large acute hospital laboratory.
* IT skills, including hospital IT systems, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
