About the role
Our work matters to millions. It’ll matter to you too. Join our Rail UK team as an OTM Driver Operator in the Anglia Region and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.
Role Purpose:
* Drive and Operate an On-Track Machine (OTM) safely & to be professional, competent & compliant in all aspects of your duties. To be competent in basic maintenance, repairs & fault finding to OTMs.
What you'll be doing
As an OTM Driver Operator you will:
* Work as part of the Track Geometry Services Team to provide a safe and professional service to the customer;
* Undertake any necessary working and transit shifts of the tamper On-Track Machine;
* Consistently work to the plan;
* Undertake training as required to retain and obtain required competency levels to drive and operate tampers up to safety critical level;
* Report any problems or safety issues to the Regional Operations Manager and the engineering team;
* Comply with the provided Safe System of Work;
* To comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental;
* Be prepared to work unsociable hours (nights, weekends, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year) and lodge when workload requires;
* Be adaptable and flexible in approach to workload demand as required by customer’s workload.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience:
* Personal Track Safety;
* Driving Licence (with no more than 6 penalty points);
* European Train Drivers Licence;
* Route knowledge;
* Excellent IT, communication and people skills;
* An ability to apply and champion the company’s Health & Safety policy;
* Self-motivated and ability to work without supervision and on own initiative;
* Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively;
* Attention to detail;
* Self-improvement and positive attitude to work tasks and requirements;
* Experience of the operation of on track plant, or an ability and willingness to learn;
* Able to carry out minor maintenance and repairs;
* Be able to make a positive contribution to a dedicated team working on high profile contracts.
