We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator from a Civil Engineering background to join our client based at their Swindon Head Office.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for estimating all project lifecycle stages, concept, study and detailed design.
2. Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines.
3. Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, overheads and subcontractor services for all projects.
4. Conduct take-offs and quantity surveys from drawings calculating material and labour costs.
5. Produce subcontractor enquiry schedule, obtaining suggestions/feedback from the tender team, procurement department and contractor schedules.
6. Prepare full project estimates from conceptual design and prepare estimate reports.
7. Foster internal and external relationships with staff, clients, engineers, stakeholders and attend meetings.
8. Conduct ongoing market research on current costs of material, rates and trends within the industry and negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers.
Requirements:
1. Engineering degree desirable / certification or equivalent
2. Minimum of 5 years Estimator experience
3. Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
4. Civil engineering project experience
5. Excellent proficiency of Microsoft Office including advanced excel
6. Highly organised, accuracy and attention to detail
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
8. Proactive, strategic and a multitasker
9. Integrity to handle confidential information
10. Previous experience in Rail is preferred.
