A fantastic opportunity to join an established, national engineering contractor as Contracts Engineering Manager (Electrical) and Senior Authorised Person (SAP) supporting a busy and fast-paced Mechanical & Electrical engineering maintenance team. This position can offer longevity through its long-term maintenance framework supporting one of our key clients on mechanical & electrical infrastructure repairs, maintenance and improvements throughout the South / South West region.
The Role
As Engineering Manager (SAP - Senior Authorised Person) you will be working within the framework and project delivery teams, responsible for managing the design delivery process, primarily dedicated to schemes within the local framework. You will be responsible for managing the production of deliverables in accordance with management systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.
1. Plan, co-ordinate and manage the planned and reactive maintenance of Canal and River Trust MEICA assets across the country including moving structures and SCADA systems, specifically lift bridges, swing bridges, locks, HPUs, actuators, motors, pumps, SCADA systems, electrical systems, and PLCs.
2. Review the remits and develop and agree the relevant engineering processes and deliverables for the complexity and scale of projects to ensure the right solution is provided, as agreed with the associated client.
3. Prepare and manage design reviews, arranging and attending meetings as required with the client, designers, and colleagues to secure design and implementation.
4. Review project-generated documentation including CPPs, WPPs, TBs, specifications, and drawings.
5. Provide approval for construction methodologies and brief out changes to standards to the project team(s) throughout the lifecycle of the project/programme of works.
6. Direct management of up to 20 field engineers required, ensuring resources are efficiently deployed to manage the workload in addition to maintenance.
7. Work with the regional engineers to deliver a number of larger projects including upgrade and refurbishment of bridges and lock gates.
Requirements
To excel in this position, you will be:
1. SAP qualified (Senior Authorised Person) within a contracting organisation with extensive industrial, mechanical, and electrical asset maintenance, project experience.
2. Qualified Electrical Engineer - electrically qualified to Level 3 (minimum) with supporting mechanical knowledge.
3. Knowledge of CRT (Canal & River Trust) assets would be advantageous.
4. Available for out-of-hours and on-call work to respond to faults as they are reported, either in person or supporting site engineers attending the asset.
5. Knowledgeable in mechanical and hydraulic system project/maintenance.
6. Experienced in working on similar projects such as moving structures, pumps, SCADA equipment, PLCs, etc., which would be a distinct advantage.
7. Holder of a Full U.K Driving License.
