Job title: Control of Works
Location: Based in Sunbury, some travel may be required to other bp locations such as London.
Requirements: Weekend working may be required at times.
About the role:
The Control of Works position is based at the Sunbury Campus, reporting to the Senior Control of Works within the engineering team. The role involves managing the safety of all works across the site, issuing permits for disciplines including hot works, working at height, excavation, etc., and providing health and safety guidance to the technical, facilities, and project teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitor all high and low risk activities carried out on site, liaising with contractors, project managers, engineering, and the soft services team.
2. Building permits on the electronic permit system.
3. Issuing permits for high-risk activities such as working at height, ground disturbance, hot works, etc. The candidate will be accountable for ensuring all works are carried out safely and in line with JLL and bp processes.
4. Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, providing comments back to work owners and contractors.
5. Writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the engineering team.
6. Liaising with contractors and work owners on a daily basis.
7. Conducting daily work safety audits.
8. Undertaking regular job-related training such as management of work at heights, hot works, and management of confined spaces.
9. Working with a team of two other Control of Works personnel.
Candidate requirements:
1. Very good understanding of health and safety regulations and guidance for disciplines such as working at heights, hot works, lifting operations, etc.
2. Ability to work in a team.
3. Comfortable engaging with the client, contractors, and senior management.
4. Proficient in IT skills such as Word, Smartsheet, and Excel.
5. Ability to work well under pressure.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and others.
8. Minimum of 3 years working within the facilities management industry.
9. IOSH passed within the last 2 years.
10. Preferred: Previously issued high-risk permits such as working at height, hot works, etc.
11. Preferred: IPAF, PASMA.
