Position Title: Bookstore Assistant
The Bookstore Assistant is responsible for assisting students and the community by providing excellent customer service at the Andover Butler Community College Bookstore. The Bookstore Assistant is responsible for assisting with closing duties and performing a variety of duties to support the operations of the Bookstore. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Greeting customers
* Pulling textbooks for customers
* Operating cash register and counting down the cash drawer
* Working as a team to complete tasks
* Assisting in processing incoming inventory
The bookstore and its staff are responsible for generating and handling 1.5 million dollars in annual gross sales. Hours will include a few Saturdays each year, as needed.

Qualifications
The applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes.

Required Knowledge and Skills
1. Must be able to work with and enjoy a diverse population.
2. Must be able to operate a cash register, copier, and applicable computer programs, such as MS Outlook, Word, etc.
3. Must be able to work under stressful situations, i.e., deadlines, long lines of students, standing for long periods of time, rude and angry customers, and periodically working alone.
4. Must be able to lift heavy boxes repetitively, i.e., 50-70 lb. boxes, delivering books to the secretarial center on campus, and unloading freight deliveries.
5. Must be able to stoop or bend and use a step ladder to reach overhead on a routine basis in stocking shelves, pulling students' books, and unloading freight trucks.
Required Experience
Must have experience in a retail setting, working with the general public.
Required Educational Background
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
