Therapy Practitioner - Front of House Therapy Service Band 4, Poole

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Therapy Practitioner to work within the Front of House Therapy Team at Poole Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset. This role involves working in clinical areas such as the Emergency department, urgent treatment centre, RACE Unit, and SDEC clinic, focusing on admission avoidance and working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) with a patient-centred approach.
The post requires confidence in completing therapy assessments and working with a diverse patient group, especially older people. Effective communication, organization, and the ability to support and guide therapy support staff are essential.
Main duties include:
1. Assessing and treating patients within the hospital setting.
2. Participating in weekend and 7-day working rotas.
3. Achieving competency levels with training and support provided.
4. Possibly assessing patients in their home environment with support from qualified clinicians.
Qualifications required include a Foundation Degree in health or an equivalent qualification. Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant or similar role working with adult patients with chronic conditions is essential, with experience in an acute setting and multidisciplinary team working being desirable.
Technical skills include the ability to assess patients using specific tools, work independently, manage caseloads, and basic computer literacy. Knowledge of pathologies related to older adults, rehabilitation techniques, and exercise monitoring is required.
Interpersonal skills should include good verbal communication, motivation, empathy, and the ability to handle difficult situations. Other requirements include holding a clean driving license and the ability to move and handle patients and equipment safely.
Personal attributes include being flexible, motivated, organized, and able to work independently while recognizing job role boundaries. Fluency in English is necessary.

* The role will relocate to Bournemouth in April, with adjustments to travel allowances accordingly.
