Job Overview
The Structural Engineering team at BAE Systems is responsible for designing and analysing submarine structures to ensure they meet the required load cases and safety factors. As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will be working alongside other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated system solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing submarine structures through calculation and analysis to ensure compliance with safety, function, and performance requirements
* Collaborating with Operations and Construction Engineering to respond to build issues
* Presenting work to design review panels and key stakeholders
Required skills and qualifications include:
* Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline
* Analytical structural calculation skills
* Chartered or working towards
* Demonstrable Structural Engineering experience
Desirable skills include:
* Submarine, Shipbuilding, Aeronautical or Civil structural design/analysis experience
* Familiarity with Pressure Vessel Codes PD5500/ASME, fatigue analysis code BS 7608, and Structural Design code BS 5950
* Familiarity with Naval design standards
* Finite Element Analysis (FEA) knowledge
* Welding/Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) knowledge
