We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Front End Developer to join our Design Systems Team.
The DWP Design System helps to deliver consistent customer and colleague experiences faster and with less rework, by codifying design standards into reusable interface patterns.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need to show us in your application?
* Expert in front-end development with strong leadership experience, able to communicate technical concepts and to influence and mentor others
* Expert knowledge and extensive experience of open-source technologies including HTML, CSS, client and server-side JavaScript
* Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 compliance and extensive experience of delivering highly tested, accessible, robust and predictable code
* Expertise in making and communicating effective technical decisions and giving advice based on evidence, a consideration of alternative options, and understanding of risk
* Experience of using or integrating with a wide range of technical systems, and able to identify appropriate technology and approaches to solve problems
* Experience of leading the technical direction across multiple products, ensuring development quality and consistency by promoting standards and best practice.

As a Lead Front End Developer you will lead the delivery of the DWP Design System and provide frontend leadership.
You've got the skills, experience and leadership to help us make real advances in our engineering practices and capabilities. You will share your expert knowledge and experience with the team and define how we do Front End Development in DWP.
We want you to be an enabler for multiple teams, driving consistency, standards, pace and quality.
You'll resolve technical blockers and promote re-use and collaboration through our wider engineering community.

Location: You'll join us in your choice of one our brilliant digital hubs in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield.

Pay: In return for your skills, we offer competitive pay of up to £89,995 p.a.
Pension: You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97% (Worth up to £22,500/year).
