We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Health & Safety and HR Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards, including ISO 9001 Quality Management.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and internal and external audits to identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance is completed on time and thoroughly.
3. Liaise with and update management on compliance status, safety issues, and improvement measures.
4. Perform regular inspections of fleet, plant, and machinery to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
5. Deliver health and safety training sessions to staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
6. Manage accident and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up actions.
7. Oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management. Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
8. Manage the chain of custody, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
9. Conduct FORS audits and ensure tachograph compliance.
10. Support line managers with disciplinary and grievance processes.
11. Manage procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and supplier compliance with company standards.
12. Perform ad hoc duties as required to support the smooth operation of the business.
13. Maintain accurate records related to Health & Safety and HR activities.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in a Health & Safety and HR role, preferably within the timber or manufacturing industry.
2. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
3. CIPD qualification (desirable) or strong HR experience advantageous.
4. Thorough knowledge of health, safety, employment legislation, and ISO 9001 Quality Management requirements.
5. Experience in procurement processes and supplier management is an advantage.
6. Knowledge of chain of custody management, FORS audits, and tachograph compliance is desirable.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
