The Role: Head Veterinary Nurse
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our talented and supportive nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference where your ideas and expertise are valued.
Team Structure
• 2 Full-time Vets.
• 1 Head Nurse (this role).
• 1 Nurse.
• 2 Student Nurses.
• 1 Full-time Receptionist.

Key Responsibilities
As Head Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
• Leading and mentoring a team of nurses and support staff.
• Coordinating daily clinical operations and ensuring the smooth running of the practice.
• Maintaining excellent clinical standards and ensuring compliance with protocols.
• Organizing and delivering nurse clinics.
• Supporting the team with a hands-on approach, including surgical and medical nursing tasks.
• Assisting in the training and development of Student Nurses as a Clinical Coach.
• Actively participating in maintaining and improving practice cleanliness and equipment.
• Liaising with management to implement new ideas and ensure a high standard of patient care.

Key Details
1.Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
2.Flexibility: Option for a 4-day working week or shorter 5-day week.
3.Weekends: 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (4-hour shift).
4.Leave: 22 days annual leave, plus all Bank Holidays (total of 30 days).
5.No OOH: No out-of-hours or after-hours responsibilities.
6.CPD: Funded Continuing Professional Development.
7.Salary: £35,000-£40,000 based on experience.
8.Discounts: Staff discounts on food, medicines, and services.
9.Memberships: RCVS fees fully covered.
10.Pension: Work pension scheme available.

About You
We're looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with:
• A minimum of 3 years in practice, with leadership or head nurse experience preferred.
• Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to lead by example in all areas of nursing.
• A passion for coaching and developing a nursing team.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to implement improvements to patient care.
