Description CMDP, a Joint Venture between Costain and MWHT, have been selected by Southern Water to deliver essential infrastructure solutions for its next AMP8 investment programme. The award is for an initial seven-year term worth at least £500m to Costain, with an option to extend by up to five years. The strategic delivery partner framework will deliver upgrades to water and wastewater assets, including treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs, during Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) and beyond. Southern Water expects that its AMP8 programme, which runs from 2025 to 2030, will be the largest it has ever undertaken. Responsibilities Review client and/or third-party information to determine suitability, and liaise with those concerned to obtain further information if necessary Challenge client asset standards where a clear opportunity exists to use an alternative, cost effective process or product without reducing the overall outcome Produce mechanical designs, including calculations, specifications and layouts, which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the client and which can be purchased, installed and commissioned effectively Carry out tender bid analysis for various items of plant Carry out subcontractor or third-party design reviews until these are accepted Carry out site surveys, including asset condition surveys as necessary Compile design budget estimates, design deliverables schedules and provide feedback for proposals department as necessary Complete deliverables on time and to budget and where necessary manage the deliverables of others to ensure deliverables dates and budgets are maintained Manage/monitor the work of others in the organisation or project team, including checking and/or reviewing their work Liaise with other disciplines with the organisation and the project teams to ensure that all design elements are fully integrated Ensure that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements including, but not limited to, CDM regulations Ensure that designs take account of sustainability and environmental issues Essentials Excellent leadership and communication skills Collaborative and able to influence others Significant experience in water and/or wastewater treatment processes and relevant mechanical design criteria General experience of other discipline criteria associated with water and/or waste water treatment including civil, process, EICA and project management General understanding of client regulatory environments Budget management experience Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts Be able to accurately report progress / risk / opportunities / change Be digitally proficient in multiple design systems / software Be able to lead design meetings, deliver presentations and groups Understand sustainable design essentials Mobility to work on various projects throughout the framework Qualifications Essential Degree qualified Be on track or have achieved professional qualifications such as Chartership or Incorporated Status
