OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Assistant Audiologist (once competencies have been met) would be expected to perform without direct supervision: Take aural impressions, fit and modify ear mouldsRoutine follow up checks and advise on environmental aidsRepairs to hearing aidsRe instruction / counselling with respect to hearing aidsReferrals to other agencies Hearing Therapy, RNID, RAD, Social Services and Hearing Help EssexHome visits for the above techniquesRemote clinics for the above techniquesClerical duties as requiredAnnual Stock check SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes all aspects of analogue and digital hearing aid repairs for both adults and childrenInstructing and advising patients on the use and care of hearing aidsChecking patients ears for wax, infections, or any other abnormalitiesTaking impressions of patients ears (for over 5 years of age)Fitting and modifying earmouldsAssisting the Audiologists when testing young childrenDespatching and receipting of ear mouldsTo do home visits for the above techniques when the patient is house boundAttend outreach clinicRefer patients to other agencies (R.A.D, Hearing Help Essex) ADMINISTRATIVE Cross referencing of referrals, checking/ amending/updating demographics on Lorenzo and Auditbase systemsDealing with the enquires from the departments Audiology email accountBooking, cancelling or rearranging patient appointments on Lorenzo and Auditbase systemLiaising with health clinics to supply batteries to the local populationScanning and photocopying as requiredOpening and distributing the postUsing the Auditbase stock module to book in ear mouldsEnsure detailed and accurate patient records and reports are keptEnsure appropriate other professional received relevant information and reportsMaintaining stock levels including ordering, unpacking, checking delivery notes, completion of paperwork and putting stock away GENERAL DUTIES Ability to work effectively without direct supervisionAbility to work calmly and methodically when under pressure from a busy and varied workloadDemonstrate an understating of the importance of confidentiality in dealing with patient detail and work in a confidential mannerAbility to carry out duties of the post with due regard the Trusts policy on equal opportunities
