About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead the daily operations of our modern warehouse, which incorporates both automated and manual processes. With a high volume of inbound and outbound activity, this is a key role in ensuring seamless warehouse operations.
You will report directly to the Operations Manager and take full responsibility for achieving key performance targets, ensuring high standards in safety, quality control, and operational efficiency are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
You will lead a team of five leaders, providing ongoing coaching and support to ensure they align with business goals and perform at their best. Your leadership will foster a culture of open communication, where feedback is encouraged and valued.
Operational Performance:
Drive the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all areas of warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch. Ensure productivity is optimized and that any unproductive hours are kept to a minimum.
Resource Planning & Budget Management:
Use your strong commercial acumen to plan resources for each shift in line with forecasted needs. This includes managing headcount and collaborating with recruitment partners as required.
Customer Satisfaction:
Manage the flow of work to meet delivery targets, ensuring the customer experience is prioritized and operational efficiency is maintained.
Health & Safety Compliance:
You will uphold the highest standards of workplace safety, conducting thorough investigations into HR-related or H&S incidents, and providing detailed reports when needed.
Collaboration with the People Team:
Work closely with the People Team to ensure accurate management of workflows, including timesheet approvals, absence management, recruitment, and contract offers.
Maintenance Oversight:
Supervise on-shift engineers to ensure the successful completion of maintenance tasks and smooth site operations.
Employee Engagement:
Champion employee engagement by actively listening to their concerns and supporting their needs, ensuring any queries are resolved in a timely manner.
Candidate Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need significant experience in leading large, diverse teams in a fast-paced warehouse or retail environment. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a track record of success in managing teams, optimizing performance, and ensuring the highest levels of operational excellence.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Leadership Experience:
Proven experience managing large teams in a dynamic warehouse environment, with the ability to motivate and develop your direct reports.
Resource Planning Expertise:
Strong experience in resource planning and managing headcount to meet operational and budgetary needs.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook are essential.
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical skills with a focus on meeting KPIs and delivering measurable results.
Health & Safety Knowledge:
A solid understanding of Health and Safety procedures is required. Possession of IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate is preferred but not essential.
Education:
