Head of Legal Operations Consulting Any UK office Role Overview Vario is Pinsent Masons' professional services division, providing complementary legal capabilities in managed services, resourcing, consulting and technology. We work exclusively with in-house legal teams to help them do more, better. The Legal Operations & Tech Consulting group helps in-house legal leaders with their challenges in service delivery, organisation design and culture, resourcing strategies, efficiency, cost reduction and technology including practical application of AI. The Head of Legal Operations Consulting role will lead the Legal Operations service line, working alongside counterparts in Legal Tech and AI. This role is a combined business leadership and delivery role responsible for the strategic direction, management and performance of the service; business generation and client development; client engagement and delivery including developing and leading the team. As a core member of the Consulting leadership team, this role can make a significant and fulfilling contribution to a growing business. Key responsibilities will include: Business Line Strategy Leading an integrated Legal Operations Consulting capability that maximises the collective client impact of the group and the wider law firm Developing a distinctive client offering, with clear services, products and client proposition Go-to Market Pursuing service line growth and expansion Marketing and raising external profile through events, thought leadership and more Business development, client targeting and relationship building Pursuing opportunities, delivering proposals and pitches, including potential multi-functional solutions for clients Leading commercial negotiations Delivery Building and overseeing highly capable delivery teams, both permanent and through networks Developing the tools, methodologies and technical assets to deliver client projects Leading client engagements or acting as executive sponsor as appropriate Managing client relationships before, during and between engagements, in close collaboration with PM relationship teams Business Management & Performance Managing financial performance including revenue and profitability targets Building, developing and managing a team Our standard working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm, however, we are happy to consider flexible working requests. Key Relationships This role will report into Ben Williams (Head of Consulting) This role will work closely with Mike McGlinchey (Head of Legal Tech Consulting) This role will work alongside the Vario groups, in particular Managed Legal Services and Client Solutions; partners and client relationship teams; delivery teams and other experts in the wider Pinsent Masons business. Candidate Overview We are looking for candidates who hold the following skills and experience: A significant track record in client development, business development, generating and closing opportunities Meaningful experience of in-house legal operations, ideally including optimisation or transformation programmes, whether as an external advisor or in-house leader Demonstrable management consulting skillset, although it is not required that candidates be long term consultants A strategic and commercial mindset A personable, practical, approachable and collaborative manner What can we offer you?
