Wellington Plant, Bury is part of Milliken’s Performance Textiles Division and is a multi-award-winning textile manufacturer supplying fabric products into Airbag systems for automotive vehicles. Shipping to over forty locations in twenty countries, we contribute to saving three thousand lives per year and prevent over thirty thousand life changing injuries. Role (summary)
The Environment, Health & Safety Manager will support the business by leading all aspects of safety, health and environment.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Environment, Health & Safety Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
* Driving improvements in safety, health and environment.
* To ensure continuing improvement of the Risk Management process.
* To ensure compliance of safety and environmental and energy systems to legal, International and Customer specific requirements including Mcerts
* Reporting of air, water and waste pollutions to legal entities.
* To act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor
* To act as the Laser Safety Officer
* Promotion of safety processes internally
* Working closely with the business team to understand the cost and value of safety and environment.
* Owning the safety, health and environment management systems.
* Providing regular progress updates to the business and assist in prioritising and decision-making processes.
Knowledge and Skills
You’ll already be working within an automotive and/or textile related industry and ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Degree educated or proven equivalent experience.
* NEBOSH qualified and membership of IOSH and IEMA.
* Self-motivated with a knowledge of automotive/textile markets.
* Strong IT skills including MS Office.
* Good organisational skills.
* Good understanding of quality and environmental management, business ethics and safe systems of work.
* Strong communication skills.
* Integrated team player with a strong sense of ownership and commitment.
* Confident in developing customer relationships.
* Analytical with good problem-solving skills and an understanding of statistical process control.
* Full driving licence.
* Technical understanding of textiles from yarn preparation to fabric finishing with a knowledge of fabric formation would be advantageous.
This a management role with relevant KPI’s and you will be asked to represent Milliken at an accountable level. In return, the role will provide the right person the opportunity to develop their skills and grow both personally and within the business environment. You may already be working within an automotive textile related industry and want to increase your responsibilities working alongside the business and production teams.
Some domestic and international travel is a requirement of this role.
