Job Overview and Key Duties
Working closely with UK Local Authorities and Business to Business customers, this role is an external, customer-facing sales position with a strong account management element. Operating within the Environmental division of IPL’s business portfolio, the role holder will manage and sell products into a customer base valued anywhere between £3-6 million. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships with long-standing customers as well as forging new working business partnerships with lapsed/dormant accounts. This is a hybrid role, with at least 3 days a week in the office, unless attending external customer meetings.
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the plastics injection moulding industry across accounts of varying sizes.
2. Conduct regular business reviews with customers, discussing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and presenting new solutions.
3. Conduct research to identify and target new business opportunities.
4. Develop and implement strategic business development plans to expand market presence and achieve sales targets.
5. Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify potential risks and opportunities.
6. Provide accurate sales forecasts, reports, and updates to management, highlighting key account performance and future growth strategies.
7. Collaborate with internal teams, such as engineering, planning, production, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.
8. Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and generate leads.
9. Provide support to the wider Sales team and their accounts.
Qualifications
Qualified to Degree level in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
Proven working experience as a business development manager, Account Manager, Sales executive, or a relevant role.
Experience working within the plastics industry would also be beneficial.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite of packages, with knowledge and experience using CRM systems.
