We are looking for a passionate and adaptable individual to join our team as a Sports Coach Teaching Assistant at a supportive school in Whitehaven. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with primary and secondary-aged pupils, helping them to develop their physical skills, build confidence, and improve their wellbeing. As a Sports Coach Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs. Your role will involve assisting students in the classroom, helping them engage in various activities, and supporting them with Rebound Therapy. You will work closely with the teaching staff to ensure pupils feel encouraged and motivated as they participate in activities that help develop their physical and emotional skills.

The Role:In this role, you will be working across both primary and secondary age groups, providing tailored support to students during class activities. Your duties will include:
1. Supporting students in the classroom, helping them engage in activities
2. Assisting with Rebound Therapy sessions, ensuring that students feel comfortable and supported
3. Adapting tasks to meet the individual needs of students
4. Helping with behavioural management in line with school policies
5. Encouraging positive social skills and teamwork among pupils
The Ideal Person:We are looking for someone who:
1. Holds a relevant sports or coaching qualification
2. Has experience working with children, preferably in a school or coaching setting
3. Has a passion for physical activity and an interest in Rebound Therapy
4. Is adaptable, patient, and able to support students with additional needs
5. Can build strong, supportive relationships with students
6. Has strong communication skills and is confident in providing feedback to both students and staff

Hours:This role is full-time or part-time (8.30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday), with flexible options depending on your availability.

As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long-term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
