Your role:
* Do you want to make a difference to the lives of Children & Young people Looked After and Care Leavers in Greater Manchester?
Do you want to work in a dynamic team working at the forefront of national and regional reform in children’s services?
During 2024-2025, Greater Manchester has been one of only two national Regional Care Cooperative (RCC) Pathfinder sites and we are now ready to officially launch the first official Regional Care Cooperative from April 2025.
* This is an incredibly exciting time for RCCs and we will be leading the way in GM. These roles will provide strategic commissioning leadership for the RCC hosted as part of the GM Children and Young People’s programme within the Public Service Reform Directorate, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).
* GMCA are looking for experienced Strategic Commissioning Managers to join a dynamic team leading a dedicated programme of work focused on how as a city-region we can work together to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the children’s social care placements market. Through collaboration between the ten Local Authorities and their partners Greater Manchester already has strong foundations to build on through our status as one of the first two official Regional Care Co-operatives nationally.
* Now with national reforms emerging focused on tackling issues of cost, quality and sufficiency we want GM RCC to lead the way in transforming the system so that we have more children placed locally in high quality homes, more foster carers and better outcomes for our children. If you are up for being part of this ambitious programme then this role could be the one for you.
About you:
* As a Strategic Commissioning Manager in the RCC team, you will thrive working in partnership with a range of stakeholders and taking people along with you on a change journey. You’ll be a motivated self-starter who initiates and manages your own workload and you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, finding innovative solutions to complex challenges.
We are looking for applicants who have:
* Demonstrable significant experience of the commissioning landscape in children’s services.
* Experience of leading and successfully delivering on significant programmes of work.
* Experience of working on programmes with multiple stakeholders from different organisations and cultures to achieve common objectives.
