Alexander Steele are delighted to be working exclusively in partnership with a well-established food manufacturer supplying a range of chilled and ambient products to UK retailers and Food Service. They have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join their site in Surrey.
The role:
As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for implementing the technical and operational goals and strategy, ensuring that the business meets customers' expectations regarding product quality, food safety, and legality. This will be achieved through ensuring that high-performing partnerships are formed with both customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Management of the Technical team including holding regular meetings, performance reviews, identifying training needs, and setting objectives for individuals.
2. Ensure up-to-date policies and procedures are communicated to and fully understood by the operational teams.
3. Build excellent relationships with customers and suppliers and ensure that complaints, queries, and communications are responded to in a timely manner.
4. Ensure that all hygiene and H&S requirements are adhered to by following company policies and procedures.
5. Maintain excellent knowledge of company procedures and control standards.
6. Monitor and manage all technical processes, product standards, and quality control programmes.
7. Ensure that the technical function is cost-effective and running with the required resources.
8. Work with the senior management team to implement company policies and business objectives.
The candidate:
My client is looking for an individual who has management experience within the food manufacturing industry. You must be able to lead, motivate, and drive continuous improvements whilst upholding the business's beliefs and guiding principles.
1. A minimum of 2 years in a Technical or Quality Management position with customer and supplier-facing experience.
2. A Food Science degree is desirable.
3. HACCP Level 3 +.
4. Lead Auditor or equivalent experience.
5. Good Knowledge of BRC.
