The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham, ‘Collyer’s’, is one of the leading sixth form colleges in the country and the no.1 choice for A Levels in West Sussex.
A well-qualified T Level Digital Software Production or Computer Science teacher is required to join our thriving Computing department. We currently offer the T Level in Digital Software Production, Computer Science A Level, and IT BTEC at Levels 2 and 3.
We would welcome applications for the post from candidates with all levels of experience, including Early Career Teachers, but a minimum level of expertise in programming will be necessary.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a good classification in an appropriate subject-related degree, together with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET).
Experience: Current or recent experience of delivering T Level Digital Software Production, Computer Science or IT and Level 3 would be beneficial but not essential. Applications from ECTs would also be welcomed.
Knowledge and Skills: Excellent subject knowledge, including the ability to program in two languages – Python and SQL preferred but not essential. Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with external employers within different digital roles, such as Software Developers and Product Owners. Relevant or comparable industry experience in the digital industry, such as software development, and a good understanding of using project methodologies and algorithms would be desirable but not essential.
Personal Qualities: We are looking for a reflective and inspirational practitioner with excellent teamwork, organisation and communication skills. You will have excellent problem-solving abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
Motivation and Expectations: A commitment to high standards which motivate, support and encourage the growth of students to ensure excellent outcomes, both in the classroom and in the workplace.
Three teachers currently teach in a suite of specially resourced classrooms. You would join this team.
All teaching staff are also personal tutors. Tutors monitor progress and offer support and guidance to some 25 students. The ability to contribute to our extensive enrichment programme would also be welcome.
Salary Range: On the SFCA salary scale £32,178 (Point 1) to £49,725 (Point 9).
