This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to take a leadership position within a dynamic and successful business. The Senior Estimator will oversee critical aspects of the company’s sales administration, enquiry, and quotation processes. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining accuracy in estimation and planning. This role is central to the company’s efforts to secure new business opportunities while providing vital support to internal operations and team development. As a key member of the Management Team, the Senior Estimator will contribute to implementing strategic sales initiatives, monitoring performance metrics, and fostering continuous improvement across all relevant functions. Key Responsibilities: Enquiry Management: Ensure customer enquiries are logged, reviewed, and addressed efficiently and accurately. Estimating Process: Undertake and oversee the creation of precise cost estimates, maintaining up-to-date data for materials, labor, and margins to ensure accuracy. Quotation Management: Prepare and issue customer quotations in a timely manner, working with senior management to finalise pricing and ensuring all communications meet high professional standards. Sales Administration: Manage the administrative functions of sales, including order entry, acknowledgment, and the review of live quotations, outstanding enquiries, and active orders. Planning Support: Provide guidance to the Planning Department to ensure job packs are issued accurately and on schedule. Team Leadership: Motivate, train, and guide staff, setting clear targets and supporting team members to achieve their objectives. Regularly review priorities and resource allocation to optimise performance. Management Collaboration: Work closely with the Management Team to implement sales strategies, contribute to business-wide initiatives, and monitor key performance indicators for estimating and quotation functions. The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience in a senior estimator role, ideally within a mechanical engineering environment. Strong leadership and organisational skills, with a focus on process improvement and team motivation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach. Proficiency with estimation tools and cost calculation methodologies. A proactive mindset, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a management team.
