The Korean to English Interpreter plays a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between Korean-speaking engineers, managers, and English-speaking stakeholders within the industrial automation industry. The interpreter ensures accurate translation of technical concepts, project discussions, and documentation to support smooth operations, collaboration, and project success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Interpretation:
• Provide real-time interpretation during technical meetings, training sessions, and on-site inspections between Korean and English-speaking teams
• Ensure accurate and clear communication of technical details, safety procedures, and project requirements
2. Translation:
• Translate technical documents, user manuals, blueprints, and project reports from Korean to English and vice versa
• Ensure translations maintain technical accuracy and clarity
3. Communication Support:
• Assist in drafting emails, reports, and presentations in both languages
• Act as a liaison between Korean and English-speaking stakeholders, fostering cross-cultural collaboration
4. Industry-Specific Knowledge:
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of industrial automation processes, systems, and terminology
• Stay updated on industry trends and technical advancements to provide contextually accurate translations
5. Cultural Mediation:
• Help bridge cultural differences to enhance teamwork and project outcomes
• Offer insights into Korean and English business practices when necessary
Key Skills and Competencies:
1. Fluency in Korean and English (spoken and written)
2. Strong understanding of technical terminology in the industrial automation field
3. Excellent interpretation and translation skills with attention to detail
4. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
5. Ability to work in high-pressure environments and manage multiple tasks
6. Familiarity with industrial safety standards and automation processes is a plus
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Engineering, or a related field preferred
2. Proven experience as an interpreter/translator in a technical or industrial setting
3. Knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable
4. Certification in interpretation or translation is a plus
5. 3 years work experience in interpretation/translation
Working hours:
1. 8 am to 4:30 pm (8 hours/day)
2. Flexible work hours can also be arranged
3. Some overtime, weekend and holiday hours may be required
Wage:
Hourly wage: $25/hour
Additional Information:
1. Employees will be required to complete an online Safety Certification course before commencement of employment; cost for the course is the responsibility of the client
2. There will be a three-month probationary period
