A dedicated secondary school in Glossop is looking for a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) to support students with additional learning needs. In this vital role, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the SEND department to ensure that each student receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
* Direct Student Support: Work one-on-one and in small groups with students with SEND, helping them with classroom tasks, encouraging participation, and adapting activities to match their learning styles.
* IEP Implementation: Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) by breaking down objectives into manageable steps and adapting teaching methods as needed.
* Behavioural and Social Support: Help students develop positive social skills, supporting behaviour management plans and encouraging constructive peer interactions.
* Teacher Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson objectives, modify materials when necessary, and share insights on student progress and needs.
* Progress Tracking and Reporting: Document student progress regularly, providing feedback to the SEND Coordinator and offering recommendations for adjustments in support strategies.
Ideal Candidate:
The school is looking for a compassionate, patient, and proactive individual with experience working in SEND. A background in education, youth work, or social services is beneficial, along with an understanding of autism, ADHD, and other common learning needs. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
