Anderson Knight is currently recruiting a Logistics Manager for one of our clients based in the outskirts of Glasgow.
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising all aspects of the logistics and supply chain operations. This role involves coordinating the movement, storage, and distribution of goods to ensure efficient delivery, while maximising profitability and minimising costs. The Logistics Manager will manage logistics partners, develop effective strategies, monitor key metrics, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, implement, and monitor the daily movement of goods and materials across multiple locations.
* Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products.
* Manage and control inventory levels, ensuring accurate tracking and storage to meet demand.
* Develop policies and procedures to maintain stock accuracy and reduce inventory costs.
* Optimise logistics expenses through negotiations with carriers, evaluation of shipping methods, and efficient route planning.
* Monitor budget adherence and report on cost-saving initiatives.
* Analyse current logistics practices and develop innovative strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
* Implement lean logistics strategies, including just-in-time and lean warehousing, to streamline operations.
* Lead, train, and develop the logistics team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulations.
* Ensure that all logistics activities comply with relevant local, state, and federal laws, including safety and environmental regulations.
* Maintain high standards of health and safety in the workplace, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
* Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, cost per shipment, and inventory turnover.
* Generate and present weekly and monthly reports to senior management on logistics performance and goals.
* Build and maintain relationships with logistics service providers, including carriers, warehouse operators, and freight forwarders.
* Work closely with internal departments like procurement, sales, and customer service to align logistics activities with overall business objectives.
Key Qualifications:
Education & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
