Job Overview
The medical therapy team at Trafford Hospital is looking to recruit a dynamic Band 7 Physiotherapist as team lead for the multidisciplinary team. The post holder should possess excellent clinical and advanced communication skills alongside a flexible and visionary work ethic. The successful applicant should have relevant clinical experience in acute care and a special interest in medicine for older people, including those with cognitive impairment. There is a requirement to manage the on-call respiratory rota and coordinate site-wide respiratory training for the on-call team.
We are seeking someone with advanced clinical skills in the assessment of frailty syndromes, understanding how to utilize multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation approaches to support patients through their hospital stay, with a strong focus on patient flow. There will be an expectation to carry a clinical caseload and to work alongside the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to lead the MDT. The post has responsibility for direct clinical leadership of the therapy team (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and rehabilitation assistants).
You will be able to demonstrate involvement in service and team development, including supporting senior clinical leads as well as supervision of clinical staff and students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their leadership skills, alongside using clinical specialty skills in physiotherapy.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicant will have the skills to assess every patient’s potential to return to their preferred place on leaving the hospital, as this is integral to the team’s vision. Excellent clinical reasoning skills, rapid assessment and discharge planning skills, in addition to meeting the needs of patients with complex medical needs, are required for this post. The post holder must be a calm but assertive communicator, who is able to negotiate a way forward in even the most challenging situations. An awareness of the Greater Manchester Discharge to Assess processes and pathways would be desirable.
The post holder will be supported by a robust induction. There is a support network for all staff, including clinical supervision, and you will be directly involved in the supervision of junior staff and students. Applicants should be prepared to participate in a 7-day working service and an on-call respiratory rota. Consideration will be given to flexible working patterns.
