Our client is one of the UK's largest independent surfacing contractors, delivering bespoke surfacing solutions across a wide range of industries nationwide and throughout the UK.
We are seeking experienced multi-skilled asphalt surfacing operatives to join our team, reporting directly to the Foreman. As part of our Surfacing Asphalt gang, you will be responsible for the preparation, laying, and finishing of hot asphalt and other surfacing materials in accordance with specification standards. This position has two shift patterns you will be required to work days or nights, the length of each shift would be 10 hours.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in the preparation of road surfaces and ensuring the area is ready for asphalt or other surfacing materials.
2. Responsible for laying hot coated asphalt products as part of our surfacing crew across our sectors such as aviation, commercial, highways, leisure and local authority and more.
3. Safely operating items of hand tools, plant and machinery associated with asphalt surfacing (paver, tractors, rollers, Stihl saw and breakers).
4. Perform banksman duties for items of plant and delivery vehicles.
5. Monitor the quality of asphalt application, ensuring specification, temperature, and finish.
6. Conduct daily checks and routine maintenance for example: greasing, cleaning, topping up fluids to ensure optimal functioning of tools and machinery.
7. Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, driving a zero-harm and safety-first mindset throughout.
Requirements:
1. A valid CSCS Card.
2. CPCS/NPORS.
3. Streetworks ticket (SNRSWA Beneficial).
4. Previous experience in the road surfacing or highways industry.
5. Experience in operating surfacing plant and machinery (Preferred).
6. Driving Licence.
7. Excellent attitude to all aspects of Health and Safety.
