What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivatedSchool Business Assistant (Clerk to the Governors).
This is a key role supporting our Local Governing Board in the strategic management and development of our school.
The purpose of the clerk’s role is to:
• Provide effective administrative support to the governing board and its committees
• Ensure the governing board is properly constituted
• Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
• Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters
A willingness to work flexibly is required as the workload is variable. This includes attendance of 10 meetings per year on Thursdays at 4.30pm or 5pm. The post involves taking minutes, circulation of reports, preparations of agendas, letters and other specific duties for which close liaison with the Headteacher, Office Manager and Chair of Governors is essential.
Knowledge of how schools and governing boards operate would be an advantage along with previous experience of similar work but full training can be provided.
