An opportunity exists for you to join University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust Maternity Practice Development Team. This is an exciting role that will allow the successful candidate to work alongside the practice development team to deliver education and clinical training to the multi-professional team throughout our maternity services.
We are looking for an experienced midwife who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed to work within education and service development. The post holder will be expected to be able to work independently and as a team to deliver training to a wide range of health care professionals.
The post holder will be supported by the Trust with training, supervision, and specialist midwives to develop your practice further. This will include support to attend in-house and external training and development programs.
We have three maternity units with approximately 10,000 births per annum and serve a diverse population. Within our service, we support women and their families who have many differing needs.
You will need to be a band 6 Midwife with the ability to work across all sites.
The service at UHB is part of a well-established Local Maternity System and is currently involved in several exciting collaborative projects as one of the 7 national early adopter sites for the Better Births 5-year forward plan.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be supported to transition to the new role with a bespoke orientation plan.
The candidate will be supported to identify training needs on an organisational and individual level and to develop action plans to meet these needs. This may include coaching and supporting clinical practice.
To participate in the implementation of new training and education programs, courses, and guidelines. This will include conducting evidence-based research, audit, and quality improvement methodologies.
In addition to the provision of training in the clinical setting, the candidate will facilitate the delivery of education programs within maternity services and the wider Trust setting.
The post holder will be required to be responsive to the acute and changing environment of the maternity services and pro-actively respond to the training needs of the wider multi-professional team.
The candidate may be delegated to represent the practice development midwives at various meetings and stakeholder events and feedback to the wider team.
