This is an exciting role for Pilgrim Hospital.
An Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) vacancy has arisen in the Urgent and Emergency Care team.
This role will be dependent on skills and experience but will be a band 7 for a trainee and a band 8a on gaining qualified ACP status. Support will be given to achieve the band 8a role.
Main duties of the job
1. To work as an autonomous practitioner across professional boundaries and as part of a multi-professional team, with support from the Medical and ED Consultants.
2. To work as part of the clinical team in delivering high quality emergency care and treatments.
3. To provide initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care for patients within the ED, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit and the Assessment Units.
4. To provide initial history taking and clinical assessment skills for the patients presenting to Emergency Care.
5. To work towards gaining the competence and skill to see any patient presenting with any condition to the emergency department, assessment units or Same Day Emergency Care.
6. To work collaboratively with the emergency medical team and the medical teams to meet the needs of the patients presented within the Emergency Care.
7. The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the decision making process with support from both the ED and medical consultants.
8. To work towards being a senior clinical member of UEC and to be a role model for all grades and professions within the team.
9. To undertake Advanced Level Practice in line with Department of Health position statement for Advanced level Nursing.
10. To actively contribute towards the development and training of trainee Band 7 advanced clinical practitioners in emergency care.
11. Work to the 4 pillars of advanced practice.

Qualifications
Essential
* 1st level qualified nurse or allied health professional
* Current registration with the NMC / HCPC or equivalent professional body
* MSc degree in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent)
* Registered independent prescriber
* Advanced Life Support provider
Desirable
* Teaching Qualification
* EPALS provider
* ATLS / ETC provider
Previous Experience
Essential
* Completed portfolio of supervised practice in advanced clinical practice.
* Contemporary clinical experience of urgent and emergency care.
* Participating in a multi professional team.
* Involvement in service improvement.
* Implementation of best practice.
* Clinical mentor, appraiser, or supervisor.
Desirable
* Experience in a leadership role.
